We are currently in the process of Re-Staging the cancer. Jessica started out at a stage 3. After a month of aggressive Chemo, Her scans still show a few enlarged lymph nodes and as a result, Doctors can't say she has had a Complete response, but they're calling it a partial response to chemo. This is good news, but it means we don't move forward with maintenance phase until we do more chemo and rescan her in a couple of weeks. Until then, we go in for a spinal tap and chemo the next 4 rounds.
Jessica is quite anemic right now and is super super tired. Every week a new hurdle to climb. The past 5 nights neither her or I have slept. Our days are long with school being out and much to do.
Jessica is fighting with a nasty and painful ulcer right now. (the result of the steroids she has been taking). I guess that's the price you pay for getting to stay alive. Blood results show that her hemoglobin is pretty low, which makes her extremely tired. If she gets any lower, she will need to go in for blood transfusions. Some days I feel like we are playing this strategic game of chess with the cancer. We sit around and wait for it's response to our next move. Some days we come out on top and other days we don't. In the mean time, we try the best we can to make life as normal as we can. Jessica tries to participate in the chores. She helps fix meals, and she tries the best she can to participate in what we are all doing. Every little thing is exhausting to her so we slow down the pace of life as best we can and do our best to enjoy spending time together at home.
We've also been pretty aggressive with supporting her with naturopathic supplements and treatments to help support her through the nasty things that are going on inside her body.
On top of that, we exercise faith in the Lord's timing, and in his plan for us and her.
