Change Is Good/ Friend Energy

I just had to share two little stories today.

Change Is Good: Yesterday when we were shaving Jessica's head, the younger kids got home from school. MaKenna was the first to walk into my bathroom hunting us down to share her news about the day. The minute she rounded the corner, she stopped mid sentence and jumped back and went...."WHOA You look different."

Bryant was next, rounding the corner as he was still calling, "MOM, Can I have a fudgesicle?" for the 4th time. His last word was interrupted abruptly with "What the.......???" "Holy Cow, You look weird".

Carston, was home the whole time just in and out of the room as if nothing was different at all.

A couple of minutes later, the doorbell rang and it was Alli Deeble who had stopped by to bring a sweet gift for Jess. The younger kids innocently ushered her back to my bathroom. I don't think she was adequately prepared for what she would see either, but graciously took it all in stride.

Jessica, You are a trooper, and I anxiously wait for the day when I can braid your beautiful hair again. Until then, I love that your beautiful face has just been magnified by 10 now that there are no other distractions to it.

Friend Energy: Since the day we got home from the hospital, Jessica has been extremely tired. She sleeps a lot, she's in bed a lot, and hasn't had much energy or ambition to do much of anything. Wednesday was a hard day for Jessica as most of her hair had come out and all that was left were some whispy little strands hanging down from a patchy balding head. We were informed that friends were coming to visit and Jessica spent every last ounce of energy, putting herself together for her visitors.

The minute I rounded the corner and saw her in the living room visiting, I thought a miracle had happened. She was in there laughing and joking and carrying on like she would have before. It was almost like this transfer of energy came from them into her and suddenly she was smiling and having a great time, where just hours before she was trying to curb her emotions from the devastation of her hair and trying to come up with the energy to put on some mascara.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to all of Jessica's friends. Your cards and gifts and calls and visits really do energize her and make her so happy.
No drug, or supplement can be more healing than that.
